About the Author
Master Waysun Liao studied t’ai chi in a Taoist temple in his native Taiwan from the age of twelve. He is the founder and master of the Taichi Tao Center in Oak Park, Illinois, where he has taught for nearly forty years.

Life Energy in it's Simplicity

This book summarizes the principles that Waysun Liao laid out in "Tao-The Way of God", "Nine Nights with the Taoist Master: Deluxe Study Edition", and "Chi: Discovering Your Life Energy". Waysun Liao presents the often confusing topic of Life Energy/Chi/Qi in simple, western, layman's terms. This along with "Chi: Discovering Your Life Energy" are good introductions to Waysun Liao's larger volumes dealing with the Tao Te Ching and Spirituality.

The concept is simple. Civilization and modern living place us in a paradigm of falseness where people are too distracted to feel their Life Energy. Simplifying our lives while practicing arts like Taijiquan, Qigong and meditation allow us to reconnect to Source. His first book "T'ai Chi Classics" demonstrates an expanded version of the Cheng Man Ching Taiji form utilizing drawings and directional arrows. "Restoring Your Life Energy" has photos of the author demonstrating a few simple Qigong movements. The internal principles are paramount, regardless of what form is used.

Have to say this book is quite original and profound. Pretty heavy for a "simple" book about qi. It contains many insights that I have not seen in other books on the subject. Loved the part about Qi having quantity, quality and content.
Thanks a million to Master Liao for all his effort in providing quality material that offers unique and real insights. I recommend this book to anyone interested in deepening their understanding of Qigong. As an acupuncturist, I find this book is a perfect recommendation for patients looking to learn more about Qigong for health.

This is a very clear instruction book for the basics for chi gong, taichi chuan and other internal martial arts.
Many of the explanations will guide you to avoid the common pitfalls in your quest for wisdom.
Quality is more important than quantity. Softness is life.
There is no shortcut to sucess.

Tom Russ (Waldorf, MD) is a registered landscape architect and environmental manager who is currently Senior Associate and Director of Environmental Planning and Development at Purdum & Jeschke in Baltimore. He is also on the environmental technologies faculty at Charles County and Catonville Community Colleges and a continuing-education coursegiver for the American Society of Landscape Architects and the National Association of Environmental Professionals. Ordered a hardcover...got the India edition (softcover)

2 Stars. I had ordered this product expecting to get it as picture (yellow cover, 8th edition, hardcover). What I got was a softcover, New Delhi, India edition. On top of not getting the book as pictured, it also took three weeks to be delivered putting me behind for my class. I had to give this product 2 stars instead of 1 because although it was not what I was expecting, the content is there and in the correct order so I cant complain too much. If i wasn't already behind in this class I would have returned this copy for the correct one as now I cant re-sell it.

This is a terrific book on a fascinating topic that seems, in certain ways, to have been hiding in plain sight: the connection of images and discourses of disability to those wildly influential, iconic American horror films of the 1930s. In those films, such as Dracula, Frankenstein, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, monstrosity came to the screen in such indelible forms that their cinematic descendants continue to haunt us to this day. But where did those images of monstrosity come from in the first place?

Hideous Progeny is a fascinating, important study of representations of disability, the discourse of eugenics, and the production and reception of the classic horror films of the early 1930s. Even to summarize the book in this way, however, is to sell it short, because what makes it so valuable (and original) is its insistence on going beyond 'representations of disability'…to interrogate the ways in which horror films themselves were treated as 'hideous progeny'. Hideous Progeny offers an ambitious, and ultimately engaging and satisfying, analysis of the genre and its popular appeal.

Dr Franks then settles into a number of chapters on the physics and chemistry of the frozen state. This is crucial to a good understanding of freeze drying and especially formulation development for freeze drying, and there can be few people who could discuss this topic more eloquently or thoroughly than the author. The strengths of this work are unsurprisingly in the thorough treatment of the frozen state and an understanding of the amorphous state both in terms of formulation and freeze drying process design and also the discussion of the study/prediction of product stability. This book is a very useful and thorough overview of the process in operation during freezing and lyophilisation and should be read by all those who are interested in freeze drying and pharmaceutical formulation design. I certainly will be returning to it as an excellent summary of these important issues.

Freeze-drying, in the past popular in the food industry, has more recently been adopted by the pharmaceutical industry as a standard method for the production of stable solid preparations. Freeze-drying of Pharmaceuticals and Biopharmaceuticals is the first book to specifically describe this process, as related to the pharmaceutical industry. The emphasis of this book is on the properties of the materials processed, how effective formulations are arrived at, and how they are stored and marketed.
