From Publishers Weekly
Actress/writer Clark does her mother, Mary Higgins Clark, proud in this skillful cat-and-mouse debut. When Los Angeles PI Regan Reilly is in Oxford, England, for the 10th reunion of her semester-abroad college class, the body of her former roommate Athena is found buried in the woods nearby. Though Athena had disappeared at the end of term a decade ago, everyone had thought that the Greek girl had simply fled for home. Now Regan is appalled to learn that Athena was strangled to death. Another reunion surprise is the engagement announcement of shy instructor Philip Whitcomb, whom Athena adored. Once Regan realizes that she can't help the local police with their investigation, she agrees to accompany spry Lady Exner, who is Philip's aunt and was a friend to all the girls when they were in school, on her ocean crossing to New York. On board are also Regan's parents (her mother is a noted suspense author, her father a funeral director) and someone with plans to kill Lady Exner and her companion. Clark deftly ties the plot playing out on the ocean liner to Athena's murder in a suspenseful climax in this lively series launch.

From Library Journal
First in a proposed series by the daughter of Mary Higgins Clark, this shows private detective Regan Reilly returning to Oxford for her tenth reunion. Discovery of a dead classmate's body on the estate of a former professor and his eccentric aunt, however, dampens any festivity. Regan accompanies the aunt on a week-long cruise to New York after someone poisons the original companion but stays in touch with police. Danger lurks on the boat, of course, and Regan figures things out just in time. A forgettable story with no subtlety, no starch, no strength.

From Kirkus Reviews
Despite the contemporary setting, it might as well be 1938-- Agatha Christie time--aboard the Queen Guinivere, where p.i. Regan Reilly has been persuaded to travel to New York with dotty old Lady Veronica Exner. Both Regan and Lady Exner are recovering from a jolt: Just before they shipped out, the body of Regan's ten-years'-missing college roommate, Athena Popolous, was discovered during a reunion at St. Polycarp's, right around the corner from the Exner estate. Could the killer have been Lady Exner's nephew and heir-apparent, stammering Prof. Philip Whitcomb, or his improbably sharp-eyed fianc‚e, Val Twyler--or one of the stable of stock villains trying to rob or kill Lady Exner aboard the Queen Guinivere? Fortunately, a stable of equally familiar-looking shipmates (including Regan's universally adored suspense novelist mom, obviously modeled on first-novelist Clark's own famous mother) is on hand to help Regan to a revelation that's a lot less surprising than you might expect. Welcome flashes of mild humor don't lift this from the humdrum. -- Copyright 1992, Kirkus Associates, LP. All rights reserved.

Hello Regan Reilly, A Wonderful Beginning
By Abi 1
I have been reading Carol Higgins Clark for several years, but never had the opportunity to read her first Regan Reilly book. Now I have and I loved it. I have been addicted to Carol's books ever since the first read, and this one did not dissapoint.
Regan goes to her 10 year reunion in Oxford with her best friend. She discovers that her roommate who had dissapeared 10 years earlier was murdered and her body only recently found. After attending a tea at the home of an elderly aunt of one of the professors who had befriended the girls in school, Regan is pursuaded to take a sea voyage with the aunt. Also on the ship are Regan's parents (an author and a funeral parlor owner), some kooky passengers, a jewel thief, and a murderer.
The characters are believable, the plot is tricky and humorus, and the intrigue is stimulating. Carol never dissapoints and she is no amature even in this first book.
I appreciate a book that moves along at a nice pace, has no drag and does not leave loose ends.Thank you, Carol.

This book kept you interested as it flipped from sea to shore . The author painted the characters so vividly that it out like you were sitting with them at the dining table . An easy read and looking forward to the next book in the series
